Meet Jim Kritikos, Interim Director for the MCCS Fall Concert!
Jim Kritikos, a proud Texan, hails from Bulverde, Texas, near San Antonio. His lifelong passion for music began at the young age of 5 when he started piano lessons. He continued his musical journey through high school, actively participating in band and choir.
In 2005, Jim earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Louisiana State University, studying under esteemed mentors such as Dr. Sara Lynn Baird, Dr. Loraine Sims, and Dr. Kenneth Fulton.
For 15 years, Jim dedicated his career to the Texas public school system as a High School Choir Director in Leander ISD, Comal ISD, and Klein ISD. Under his guidance, choir programs flourished and expanded.
Jim’s devotion to music is deeply intertwined with his commitment to inspiring his students and colleagues to aim for greatness, exceed perceived limits, and redefine student leadership. He is known for his unconventional approach, combining traditional methods with innovative concepts to motivate the next generation of musicians.
Apart from his role as Interim Director, Jim is also an accomplished barbershop singer and director. His involvement in numerous successful collegiate and adult choruses and quartets has taken him across North America, from Salt Lake City to Montreal, Quebec.
Currently, Jim serves as the Director of Worship at Wildwood United Methodist Church, provides musical leadership at Waters Edge UMC, serves as the Musical Director for Spark Theatre’s production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, and runs a thriving Farmers Insurance agency.
His deepest passions lie with his family: his wife Julianna, their three children—Ryan, Maddison, and Samantha—and their beloved pets—Lola, Nillie, Marshall, and Ittie.
